Kickboxing
Whether you want to get into physical shape, learn self-defence, cross-train, or become an athlete, Muay Thai and Kickboxing can benefit you.
Muay Thai/Kickboxing will focus on fundamental techniques and skill development. This program features a progressive learning approach to defence, footwork, boxing, kicking, clinching and knees. Intense physical conditioning will be a part of each class and will help develop your overall athleticism.
Classes will include a warm up, cardio and strength conditioning, skill/technique development, hitting Thai pads, and technical contact drills.
Participants will require the following equipment to participate:
Shorts, shirt, mouth guard, 14 or 16oz boxing gloves, hand wraps and shin guards
Kickboxing // Youth Intro
Ages: 10-14 years of age
Introduction to Kickboxing is a great opportunity for youth to learn fundamental techniques, skills, physical conditioning, and promote self-confidence and discipline.
This program features a progressive learning approach to defence, footwork, boxing, and kicking. Physical conditioning will be a part of each class and will help develop individual's overall athleticism, coordination, and balance. Classes will include a warm up, stretching, cardio and strength conditioning, skill/technique development, hitting Thai pads, and technical drills.
Due to the nature of this program, participants are expected to act respectfully and be able to follow direction.
The following equipment is required for participants: Shorts, shirt, and boxing gloves.
Mouth guards, hand wraps and shin guards are recommended. Training without these pieces is possible, but participation during some drills will be limited.
Wrestling
Come try the World’s Oldest Sport! Wrestling is coming back to Niverville. Whether you want to learn a new skill, improve your fitness and confidence, cross-train for other martial arts or become a serious competitor this is the place to be! Classes in Olympic style wrestling are for all ages 5 and up with no experience necessary. A typical class will include a high energy warm-up, learning and practicing new wrestling techniques, fun skill-building games and the chance to use your skills through live wrestling. Sunday’s adult classes include the opportunity to learn from and train with active, experienced competitors.
Participation in tournaments for all ages, including the provincial championships, is optional but encouraged.
Minimal equipment is required- come in shorts and a t-shirt without straps, clips or zippers. Wrestling shoes are optional.
brazilian jiu jitsu
Ages 15+
This course is geared towards those who are just starting out in the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) journey or those more experienced individuals looking to refocus on the basics. Through this twice a week program, students will develop core fundamental skills necessary to advance in their BJJ journey.
Primary focus will be on movements and positional dominance. Ultimately leading to submissions. Students will also be taught the self-defense aspects of BJJ and how to apply it in a situation where they would have no other option then to defend themselves.
Through leverage and angles, even the smallest individual will be able to protect themselves against someone much bigger and stronger.
brazilian jiu jitsu // Youth Intro
Early focus will be paid to the foundational techniques of positional control leading to submission. Most class time and techniques will be working live with a partner. Your children will gain problem solving skills as they experiment with what works, and what doesn’t whilst drilling the variety of movements and technique’s. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is an art and an opportunity for you child to express themselves, their creativity and learn what their body is capable of.
